She didn't win, but Tatev's play was the highlight of the tournament for me. Women's sections of these recent St Louis tournaments have been routinely more compelling.

I definitely appreciate her style of play, and she had a great event. I think the women's events have been better because they're less predictable. The new generation of Yip and Lee are going up against Krush and Abrahamyan and the old guard that dominated women's chess in the US for the last decade or two. The open events are still dominated by Naka and Fabi; none of the young guys have been able to surpass them yet.
